As we all know, IELTS test score is the key to success for students who plan to study abroad and get offers from dream universities. Today I am going to share my own experience of achieving the score of seven in the exam with you.

For those who have a rather high English level, IELTS is never a difficult thing. That is because IELTS is not like common exams, it examines not only your grammar, test skills, which can be easily improved by frequent practicing, but also vocabulary and oral speaking, which native English speakers spend tens of years to memorize and exercise. So, what I am trying to say is: The best way to get a high score is through accumulating knowledge. In this way I can assure that you don’t even have to do preparation before the test. But for most candidates, a year or two is their maximum time to study for the exam, they need a high score in a very short period of time. How to realize that? I am going to break it down to four parts to interpret: Listening, reading,

As for the reading part, I consider it as the second easiest to get high points. This part requires skills more than the ability of examinees. There are different types of articles, and they all demand students to flexibly apply various techniques. Some phrases can be skipped in order to save time while others needed to be read very carefully to look for clues. If you manage to expertly apply these methods, reading is not a problem for you. Next is writing, the second hardest part of the exam. This part requires the combination of skills and ability, so that it is quite hard to improve. But I have a little trick for you: Make the start of your essay look like it is written by an expert, then slowly reveal the truth that you are just a normal candidate. In this way, the examiner will see you as a level 9 at the start, and then deduct points. Your final score will not look too bad if you do this. Also, please do read the instructions carefully, loosing marks for not analyzing the question carefully would be such a shame.

Finally, I am going to talk about the most difficult part in the test. First thing I am going to say about speaking is to have a stable psychological state, do not be nervous. Imagine having the conversation with the examiner is just like chatting with your family members. Be a humorous person. If your examiner giggles, you have probably won their favor. Prepare some topics that might be tested to reduce your stress. I recommend not to prepare those that are said likely to be on the exam, instead, practice the most difficult ones in the question bank. For those simple ones, you will be able to come up with something quickly, but it would be extremely awkward if you have no idea about something and hesitate for a long period of time. Above are my experience and suggestions for IELTS test, and I sincerely hope it can help you to level up your score and open the path to your success in the future.
